Bachelor of Professional Studies (Asian Holistic Health & Massage)

The purpose of the Bachelor completion program is to prepare students for employment in fields of Asian holistic health and massage. A Bachelor of Professional Studies in Asian Holistic Health and Massage is awarded following the completion of a minimum of 64.5 units of upper division work.

Public Safety, Ethics and Counseling
Western Anatomy and Physiology 1
Western Neuroanatomy
Survey of Chinese Medicine
Massage Therapy 1
Tui Na Hand Techniques
Western Pathology for Massage Therapists
Kinesiology
Myology

The Bachelor-completion degree will enable graduates to market themselves as competent and informed employees to companies in the growing field of Asian health and massage.

This degree will also enable graduates to:

• Support the community with the knowledge and skills that encourage health through natural means.
• Students will also take a sufficient number of courses in body therapy and massage to qualify for licensure and employment in the profession of massage.
• Know and demonstrate essential, hygienic considerations in the performance of massage.
• Demonstrate sufficient knowledge of massage, biomedical science, and Oriental medicine to pass the massage exams administered by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).

As students will take a sufficient number of courses in body therapy and massage to qualify for licensure and employment in the profession of massage, graduates will also:

• Be capable of advancing the work of disease prevention and health promotion based on recognized Asian and Holistic theories.
• Demonstrate a wide and well-practiced variety of body therapy skills.
